9th Jan 2019 Information Night- Port Stephens-Great Lakes World Heritage Estuary Proposal
The estuary of Port Stephens is a very special place, steeped in cultural history as well as being a biodiversity 'hotspot' on the east coast of Australia.
The nature and scenery of the region is spectacular and the bushland and waters of the estuary are home to some magnificent flora and fauna, many of them unique to the area. From the Barrington Tops where the Karuah and Myall Rivers begin, to the off-shore islands, it is time to consider how best to preserve this region for the future. The volunteers of the Marine Parks Association will present an informative outline of the proposal for World Heritage status for the Port Stephens-Great Lakes region. Researchers, scientists and community members will be on hand to address questions about the proposal and what benefits it could bring to the region.
Join us for an evening of scenery and science at Tomaree Community Centre, 7pm on Wednesday 9th January. Free entry for MPA members, Non-members welcome - Gold coin donation appreciated.
